Counselling

Most counselling sessions take place face-to-face, and usually one-to-one.  Sometimes, for practical reasons, appointments take place online or by telephone.  Each appointment generally lasts 50-60 minutes. To be most effective, counselling sessions should be scheduled on a regular basis - usually weekly or fortnightly. Sometimes one or two sessions are enough to help clarify thoughts or provide a different perspective; but where issues are more complex and long-standing, a longer commitment to therapy may be necessary.

My priority will be to build a solid and authentic working relationship with you.  Whatever has happened in your life, I will meet you with an open mind, listen to you and together we shall then look for the best way forward for you individuallyHonesty and authenticity are very important - at any point, you are welcome to say that a particular approach is not helpful for you, and we shall look at alternatives.   Sessions are about you - and what works for you.  The content of all sessions is entirely confidential, unless I have good reason to believe that you - or someone else - is at imminent risk of serious harm.  As a Registered Member of the BACP, I work in accordance with that organisation's Ethical Framework for the Counselling Professions.
